What is Opus TM?
OpusTM is an innovative skin resurfacing technology that uses radiofrequency to create Plasma for a controlled ablation/micro-perforation/thermal effect to the surface layer of the skin. The outcome is a decrease in wrinkles, damage caused by the sun and the natural aging process. It helps with skin textural and quality concerns such as tone, scars, acne, and stretch marks.

What is Plasma?
Plasma is considered the fourth state of energy. In the OPUS device, plasma converts nitrogen and oxygen in the air to create sparks causing micro-perforations in the surface layer of the skin. OpusTM uses Fractional Plasma, meaning it allows areas of undamaged skin to intertwine with areas of ablation and/or perforations. This activates the body's natural healing response to repair by producing its own collagen and elastin, the essential building blocks of a smooth, youthful-looking skin, all with a significant decrease in downtime.

Who is a good candidate?
Anyone from early 20s to 100 years old can see benefits from this treatment! Customizable settings allow for superficial/preventive treatment on younger skin that may need a “glow up”, as well as a more aggressive treatment required for those trouble areas that can come with age, lack of proper skin care, and sun damage. The versatility of this device allows virtually anyone with concerns about their skin to be a good candidate.

How many treatments are needed?
A skin consultation will be completed by your provider to assess the best treatment protocol for your skin type. Number of treatments needed will depend on the areas you want to focus on, as well as how aggressive the treatment will need to be to achieve optimal results. Typically, three treatment sessions followed by yearly maintenance is the ideal protocol. Each session will vary from 45 minutes to 1 1⁄2 hours which includes the application and setting of the topical anesthetic prior to the actual treatment.

Does it hurt?
A topical anesthetic is applied to the skin prior to treatment. Patients report a pressure sensation or sometimes a “spicy” sensation during treatment. Because the settings are customizable, we can adjust the treatment intensity so that the patient is comfortable and can tolerate the procedure well.

What is the downtime?
This varies depending on the treated area and patient’s goals. The skin may be red anywhere from 24-72 hours following treatment and will have a mild to moderate sunburn sensation. Some minor swelling may be noticed as well during this time. To help with the side effects and inflammation, Kreuzer Family Dentistry is now offering a line of medical grade skin care that can only be obtained via a medical provider. Makeup can be applied 24 hours following treatment.

Any special instructions before, during, or after treatment?
Pre and post treatment protocols are skin type dependent and will be addressed during the consultation appointment. Customized medical grade skin care products will be recommended in order to achieve desired results throughout the treatment process and beyond.
